I was commissioned to illustrate and design a book cover featuring stained glass art set in a stone wall with engraved lettering. The goal was to create a visually striking cover that reflected the book's themes and captured the viewer's attention.
Inspired by the book's themes, I envisioned a cover design that combined the timeless beauty of stained glass with the solidity of a stone wall. The stained glass would symbolize the story's intricate and colorful narrative, while also alluding to the Catholic influence of the seven deadly sins which would be featured in this and six other following novels.
I sketched initial concepts, focusing on the layout of the stained glass window and the surrounding stone wall. After consistent communication with the client, we decided on a final design for the stained glass art as well as the rest of the cover.
The final illustration involved meticulously rendering the stained glass, paying close attention to the interplay of light and color to create a luminous effect. The stone wall was illustrated with detailed textures, and the engraved lettering was designed to be both legible and stylistically consistent with the overall aesthetic.
The book cover illustration was well-received, praised for its artistic detail and thematic resonance. The combination of stained glass and stone created a unique and compelling visual narrative, effectively conveying the book's themes and drawing readers' attention. The engraved lettering added a touch of elegance and permanence, completing the design's cohesive and polished look.
